The notification calling application for the recruitment of trainees to the above course has been published in the Gazette of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka No. 1705 dated 06th May 2011.
Requisite Qualifications
1. Applicants should not be less than 17 years and not more than 25 years of age as at the closing date of applications.
2. Priority will be given to the applicants those who have passed G.C.E. (AIL) examination with 03 subjects in the stream of Bio Science. Applicants who have passed 01 or 02 subjects are also eligible to apply for the course. (Please refer the aforesaid Gazette Notification for further details with regard to the educationals qualifications and specimen of the application)
Importance of the following Diploma Course
Diploma holders who have passed G.C.E. (A/L) with 03 subjects in the stream of Bio-Science are eligible to apply for the posts of Agricultural Instructors and Research Assistants coming under the Sri Lanka Technical Service. In addition, carrier opportunities are also available in the field of marketing agricultural inputs, agricultural production and seed production and marketing in private sector.
Scheme of Training
The diploma course is conducted in the Sri Lanka Schools of Agriculture, Kundasale, Pelwehera, Angunakolapelssa, Vavuniya and Karapincha and the course is full time and residential. The medium of language in which the diploma to be conducted is Sinhala, Tamil and English. Trainees are provided with lodging facilities and meals at concessionary rates during the period of training. Opportunities are also available for diploma holders those who have passed G.C.E. (A/L) examination with 03 subjects in one and the same sitting in the stream of Bi-Science to enter into universities to follow a B.Sc. degree in Agriculture after completion of particular period of service in a post mentioned above.
